We have been seeing evidence of it to arrive this year, as today the Finnish based multinational smartphone manufacturer unveils their first Android powered handsets, as the company goes official with three models from their new 'X' fleet, named Nokia X, X+ and XL. The Finnish people introduced their new members to the media at their Mobile World Congress Press Event, this morning.
The the new middle-ranged phones from the series are the X and X+ that is all set to hit the markets with the same Dual-Core Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz, four-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen of 800 x 480 resolution display, four gigabytes of on board memory each (expandable via microSD card slot), 512 megabytes of Random Access Memory (RAM) on the X, where else the X+ will arrive with a 768 megabytes of storage on RAM. The new handsets will feature a three megapixels primary camera with auto-focus on their back, respectively and a 1,500mAh powered battery.
Nokia's biggest announcement of the day is the XL, sporting the same Dual-Core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, five-inches WVGA screen of IPS technology, four gigs of internal mass storage (expandable via microSD card slot), 768 megabytes of RAM, improved five megapixels main lens on the back with LED flash light and a two megapixels front facer. The firm will support a Fastlane like Nokia's Glance Screen for the above devices, as well.
All three newly introduced phones will take it's design from the company's current Asha 503 handset, made out of polycarbonate chassis. Unlike any other Android smartphones from the market, unfortunately the Nokia made X, X+ and XL is built on AOSP, running over Google's platform. Accordingly, the devices will not ship with Google Play Store services installed on them, but as the words said by Stephen Elope, users can easily side-load any Android based application using their microSD cards, and also from the dedicated Nokia Store or with any third party Android app market.
The phones will come in Black, White, Green, Cyan, Yellow and Red color options, to the markets by the end of quarter two of this year, at a price of $122 for the X, $136 for X+ and $150 for the XL.
