John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Limited has issued a latest statement confirming that Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 has been cancelled officially over the global concerns about the ongoing novel Coronavirus epidemic. This decision has been made in regard to the rising fears over Coronavirus widespread, as well as keeping the safety and healthy environment of people in Barcelona and the host country, Spain in mind. According to Hoffman, there are travel concern across the world and several other circumstances, which makes it impossible for GSMA to hold the event at this present situation. He has also extended his sympathies at this time to those affected in mainland China, and all around the world and has also mentioned that GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue their collaboration and will be working towards supporting each other for the next edition of Mobile World Congress in 2021 and the years ahead. In the past, we have heard several big names from the industry withdraw and cancel their scheduled press conferences in respect of the well-being of their customers, media and employees due to the same Coronavirus outbreak, that happens to be still spreading across multiple nations, effecting thousands of people and death toll nearly touching the 1000 mark.
