Quechua, established as a French sports brand, known for manufacturing apparels and equipment for hiking, trail running, adventure racing, climbing and mountaineering, is now entering the mobile business with their first rugged Android smartphone.
Quechua in partnership with another French consumer electronics company, Archos offers the brand new smartphone that is resistant from shocks, mud, water, sand, cold and snow, basically meaning more entertainment on your extreme sports trips. The new tough, durable and robust phone also packs a IP 54 class certification.
"This launch from an observation that we could do it ourselves with our customers, the supply of smartphones is indeed bloated, yet there is no device on the market truly suitable for the practice of hiking and the outdoors," said Christian Ollier, director of the Quechua brand.
The Quechua phone features a Quad-Core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.2Ghz, a full five-inches screen that can be even read in bright sunlight, four gigabytes of Read Only Memory (ROM) (expandable via microSD card slot), a gigabyte of Random Access Memory (RAM), a five megapixels primary camera, stays on 3G network lacking 4G connectivity, 3,500mAh powered battery that lasts up to 22 hours on calls according to the sources and running Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean on top.
Unfortunately we have no news on the unit's availability yet, but the new built to last smartphone is priced at 313 United States Dollars.
