Xiaomi, a privately owned Chinese electronics manufacturing company with it's headquartered in Beijing, and also one of the country's biggest electronics maker that designs, develops and vends smartphones, mobile applications and other consumer electronics has surpassed the South Korean multinational manufacturer, Samsung, pushing the Koreans to the second position in world's largest smartphone market and their homeland to become the first and leading seller of smartphone for the second quarter of the year, 2014, in China.
According to the words of canalys, who delivers smart market insights to mobility, "Xiaomi has risen from being a niche player to become the leading smart phone vendor in the world’s largest market, overtaking Samsung in volume terms in Q2. Xiaomi took a 14% share in China, on the back of 240% year-on-year growth." The company has shipped over 15 Million Xiaomi branded smartphones in the Quarter 2 of this year, that is an increase from 4.4 Million numbers from the same quarter, from the past year, where else Samsung has only managed to ship 13.2 Million smartphone in countryside markets, that's down from 15.5 Million mark of the Quarter 2 of 2013.
Xiaomi has got 14 percent of the country's smartphone market share, along with other Chinese manufacturers including, Lenovo, Yulong, Huawei, BBK, ZTE, Oppo and K-Touch behind Xiaomi, together has managed to ship a total number of 70.7 Million devices, holding 65% of the worldwide market share. Following this, the Korean phone maker Samsung has moved down to the second position in the markets of China, as aforementioned, which has happened for the first time ever since Quarter 4 of 2011. But, 'Sammy' has muddle through to hold back it's leadership in the global markets, with a total of 26 percent of fair share, even though it is the lowest for the global share in past two and a half years, approximately down from 32% in Q2 2013 and 31% in Q1 of 2014.
